Distances

I'm not very familiar with Philly, and I'm curious how far away a lot of the major places students live are from the school. Realistically in the morning how long does it take to get to class from east falls, center city, manyunk, etc...

Probably anywhere you're coming from in Center City or Art Museum area will take 15 mins, whether it's by car or subway. Coming from East Falls/Manyunk would probably take a lot more in the morning and afternoon during rush hour. You'll get stuck in traffic. Otherwise, probably about 15-20 minutes.

Just to add to what Pamela said...Center City/Art museum to school will be about 15 min, IF you're taking the subway (plus whatever amount of time it takes you to walk to the subway). With a car, it can really depend on the morning and what accidents are in that area, etc. I've lived in center city the last few years with a car, and it's been a disaster. So if you're looking to live in center city, definitely plan on taking the subway up which is much more convenient.

If you would like to have a car, I recommend one of the following areas:
East Falls is 10-15 min to school in the morning...you can avoid a lot of traffic by living in this area. Manayunk will be about 15 to 20, because you have to get over to the other side of Ridge Ave, which is always backed up. Roxborough/Upper Roxborough will be about 20 to 25 minutes. I'm from Philadelphia, so I've driven all of these routes to Temple at rush hour (before I finally decided where to live). Hope this helps!
